Welcome to Basking Ridge

The charming town of Basking Ridge acquired its name in the mid 1700’s when the settlers saw "the wild animals from the adjacent lowlands were basking on the beautiful ridge." Originally Bernards Township, the area currently includes the sections of Liberty Corner, Lyons, West Millington and Basking Ridge.  At one time it also included the area known today as Bernardsville. Today, most people simply refer to the town as Basking Ridge.

Basking Ridge has an area of approximately 25 square miles and a population of 27,000.  It is lush with parks, trails, and a very charming and historic center of town.
