Madison


Madison is in the heart of historic Morris County, a quaint community of about 4 square miles. Madison has a thriving downtown district that inlcudes restaurants, retail shopping and easy access to transportation. The Historic district is adjacent to the NJ Transit rail station and bus line. The growing East Business district  extends from the Historic district, east, to Chatham Borough. The historic district is on the NJ State and National Register of Historic Places.  The district also includes the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts. It is a town that celebrates both "May Day" (first day of May) and the "Bottle Hill Day" (first Saturday in October) each year with street fairs. Drew University presents the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival each summer in its newly renovated theater, which continues to provide an excellent theater experience outside of New York City. The community offers excellent schools both public and private, abundant shopping, restaurants that include deli's, diners, cofffee shops and its own movie theatre. Larger stores inlcude Staples, Radio Shack, Honda, Karl's Appliances, Blockbuster Video to name a few. Madison enjoys many parades including Halloween, Veteran's Day and a holiday parade welcoming Santa to town. There is a popular YMCA, the Madison Public Library, hsitoric Borough Hall and a recently restored (historic) train station. A short train or bus ride will have you in Manhattan in approximately 45 minutes. Madison has a large but charming downtown, which draws many residents including students of both Fairleigh Dickinson and Drew Universities. Madison is tucked between Chatham and Morristown, both charming towns with so much to offer also.
