Madison is in the heart of historic Morris County, a quaint community of about 4 square miles. Madison has a thriving downtown district that inlcudes restaurants, retail shopping and easy access to transportation. The Historic district is adjacent to the NJ Transit rail station and bus line.The historic district is on the NJ State and National Register of Historic Places. This area also includes the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts. It is a town that celebrates both "May Day" (first day of May) and the "Bottle Hill Day" (first Saturday in October) each year with street fairs. Drew University presents the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival each summer in its newly renovated theater, which continues to provide an excellent theater experience outside of New York City.
